What are the advantages of the One Step Health Test?
The One Step urine test is a useful indicator for health or disease, as the composition of the urine shows a significant change in a variety of diseases or infections. Because the urine test is easy to do at home, it can be part of a routine health check. It is a useful tool, that may give general guidance on the health and helps in the detection of diseases or infections of the kidney, liver or heart.
To determine a deviation from the standard values, we recommend doing the test over the following days. For a constant deviation over several days, we recommend consulting a doctor.
What values do the One Step health tests determine and what is the meaning of these values?
Urobilinogen - Indications of acute and chronic liver disease and impaired liver functions, evidence of liver damage and hemolytic disorders
Glucose - Sugar level detection, therapy control in diabetics, detection of glucosuria
Bilirubin - Indication of acute and chronic diseases of the liver and bile
pH - Detection of urinary tract infections and disturbed acid-base balance
Protein - Suspected renal disease (proteinuria)
Nitrite - Detection of symptoms of a bacterial urinary tract infection
Ketone - Control of weight loss programs with reduced carbohydrate intake, detection of metabolic problems in diabetics
Specific Gravity - Display of dilution or concentration level of urine, important for patients with bladder stones to monitor the fluid intake
Blood - Detection of blood in the urine
Leukocytes - Indication of inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract and kidneys (bacterial infection)
Microalbumin and Creatinine
Microalbumin detects very small levels of a blood protein (albumin) in your urine. A microalbumin test is used to detect early signs of kidney damage in people who are at risk of developing kidney disease.
Creatinine is a chemical waste product produced by muscle metabolism. When your kidneys are functioning normally, they filter creatinine and other waste products out of your blood. These waste products are removed from your body through urination. A creatinine urine test measures the amount of creatinine in your urine.
When your kidneys are healthy, very little albumin is present in the urine and the microalbumin/creatinine ratio is low. The level of albumin in your urine may be higher than normal because of kidney disease. Common causes of kidney disease include high levels of glucose, high blood pressure, and autoimmune disorders.
